The Indian Institute of Science Press (IISc Press) was established in 2008 with a memorandum of understanding signed by the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India, and the World Scientific Publishing Company (WSPC), Singapore, to co-publish books in the areas of science and technology. The IISc Press was launched in the centenary year of IISc — a research and post-graduate education institution in India known for its contributions to Indian science and technology as well world class research programmes and output. WSPC, which was established in 1981, is a leading science, technology, and medicine publisher with its world headquarters in Singapore. Through the IISc Press, IISc and WSPC aim to bring out several series of books authored by world renowned scientists, engineers, educators, business leaders, and visionaries. This intent has begun with efforts to bring out three series of books: IISc Centenary Lecture Series (ICLS), IISc Research Monographs Series (IRMS), and IISc Lecture Notes Series (ILNS). The ICLS comprises the books written by eminent speakers chosen for delivering IISc Centenary Lectures. The IRMS contains research oriented books authored by IISc faculty as well as others in India and abroad. The objective of the ILNS books is to bring out post-graduate level books of high quality in the basic subjects as well as in emerging fields.
